Hi, I'm Sandy Root, and I'm proud to call Greene County home.

For the past 25 years, I've lived and worked on my 69.7-acre farm in Xenia running a full time venue/restaurant and floral business, in my spare time I grow my own hay, tend to a greenhouse full of flowers and vegetables, and raise six beautiful horses.

My farm has been more than a home—it's been a place of creativity and community. For ten years, I successfully operated a wedding venue on the property, bringing joy to countless couples and families. More recently, I've added a premium pizza restaurant, called Silver Creek Saloon using fresh ingredients grown right in my greenhouse to serve our neighbors delicious, farm-to-table meals.

I've always been a hands-on person. I'm creative, optimistic, and a firm believer that if I set my mind to something, I can learn it and achieve it. Nothing holds me back, and challenges only fuel my determination. I've owned and managed several businesses since I was 19 years old, so I've handled the books, taxes, payroll, regulations, and people every step of the way. That real-world experience has taught me the value of fairness, accuracy, and putting people first.

I have one wonderful daughter and two grandchildren I adore more than anything. When I'm not working the farm or the businesses, I love art, photography, animals, and the simple freedom of working from home surrounded by nature.

I chose to run for Auditor because I've seen first-hand how the current system falls short. Too many hardworking families and business owners—like farmers, homeowners, and small entrepreneurs—face unfair treatment, confusing processes, and a lack of transparency when it comes to property valuations, taxes, and appeals.

I've dealt with zoning and regulatory challenges on my own property that felt like harassment and discrimination, especially as a woman running a business on agricultural land. These aren't isolated issues—they point to a deeper problem: an outdated "good old boy" network that protects insiders and resists change.

Greene County deserves better. We need an Auditor's office that
works for everyone, not just a select few. As Auditor, I'll bring honesty, integrity, and common-sense leadership:
Make property valuations clear, fair, and easy to understand—with plain-English explanations and better online tools so you know exactly why changes happen and what you can do about them.

Improve customer service so calls and emails are returned promptly, and no one feels ignored.
Streamline the Board of Revision process to make it more accessible for everyday people challenging unfair assessments.
Stand up for transparency and accountability, treating every resident—farmers, families, business owners—with the respect and fairness we all deserve.

Nothing will change if we keep doing the same thing. It's time for fresh voices, especially strong women and independent thinkers who aren't afraid to fight for what's right. I'm not part of the old system—I'm here to fix it.
Together, we can end the favoritism, ensure fair treatment for all, and build a Greene County that works for the people who live and work here every day.
